Anti-corrosive Polystyrene Coatings Modified with Tannic Acid on Zinc and Steel Substrates

چکیده
Polystyrene (PS) polymer layers were prepared and studied as anti-corrosive barrier on both carbon steel zinc substrates. To increase the corrosion resistance of coatings, two different approaches considered: (i) use mesoporous silica-nanocontainers impregnated with a inhibitor (tannic acid) introduced into polystyrene matrix (ii) direct impregnation coatings same inhibitor. The nanocontainers characterized by Transmission Electron Microscopy. thickness adhesion measured, their behavior was investigated Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy. Results showed that used slightly decreased adhesion, but significantly increased coatings. introduction tannic acid offers higher than in case doped silica nanocontainers.

Enhanced Anti-corrosive Properties of Electrosynthesized Polyaniline/zeolite Nanocomposite Coatings on Steel
The preparation of polyaniline/zeolite nanocomposite coating on 304 stainless steel (304 SS) surface has studied via the galvanostatic method. The electro-generated coating was characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), UV-visible absorption spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The anticorrosion property of polyaniline/zeo...
متن کاملModified Zinc Phosphate Coatings: A Promising Approach to Enhance the Anti-Corrosion Properties of Reinforcing Steel
Reinforcing steel embedded in fresh concrete develops a protective passive layer on its surface. This layer, which is formed as result of high alkalinity of the concrete pore solution (pH~13), consists of γ-Fe2O3 adhering tightly to the steel. As long as that oxide film is present, the steel remains intact [1]. However, chloride ions attack and concrete carbonation can destroy the film and, in ...

This paper reports nano-structured SiO2-TiO2 coatings using the sol-gel technique on 316L steel substrates. Nanoindentation, surface analysis and corrosion resistance tests were performed on different samples. The nanomechanical tests allowed to compare uncoated steel samples (Eavg = 193.24 GPa and mean hardness of 2.63 GPa and coated steel samples (Eavg = 287.38 GPa and mean hardness of 5.74 G...
متن کاملBiofunctionalized anti-corrosive silane coatings for magnesium alloys.
Biodegradable magnesium alloys are advantageous in various implant applications, as they reduce the risks associated with permanent metallic implants. However, a rapid corrosion rate is usually a hindrance in biomedical applications. Here we report a facile two step procedure to introduce multifunctional, anti-corrosive coatings on Mg alloys, such as AZ31. The first step involves treating the N...
متن کاملMechanical Aspects of Anti - Corrosive Coatings Performance Tests
Protective coating corrosion failure is a complicated process that involves various phenomena which are hard to test for separately. An adequately protected pipe can be in service for a relatively long time without exhibiting any signs of corrosion failure, and then all of a sudden it corrodes over a short period of time. Failure will definitely happen if the interface between the pipe surface ...
